Nose Correction - Rhinoplasty Correction
NOSE CORRECTION:
A nose job (technically called a rhinoplasty) is surgery on the nose to change its shape or improve its function.
It can be done for medical reasons- such as to correct breathing problems related to the nose or correct disfigurement resulting from trauma or birth defects.
It can also be done for cosmetic reasons, which will change the nose’s shape and appearance.
DECIDING ON A NOSE JOB:
If you are thinking about getting a nose job, set up an appointment with your surgeon to discuss it. During that meeting, talk about your goals and tell the doctor what bothers you about your nose and how you would like to change it.
There are various techniques for reshaping the nose. Once you decide to go head, your surgeon should describe exactly what she proposes to do.
AFTER SURGERY:
1. Avoid strenuous activities such as aerobics and jogging.
2. Take baths instead of showers while you have bandages on your nose.
3. Not blow your nose.
4. Eat high-fibre foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to avoid constipation. Constipation can cause you to strain, putting pressure on the surgery site.
5. Avoid extreme facial expressions, such as smiling or laughing.
6. Brush your teeth gently to limit movement of your upper lip.
7. Wear clothes that fasten in the front. Don’t pull clothing, such as shirts or sweaters, over your head.
8. In addition, don’t rest eyeglasses or sunglasses on your nose for at least four weeks after the surgery, to prevent pressure on your nose.
9. Use SPF30 sunscreen when you’re outside, especially on your nose. Too much sun may cause permanent irregular discoloration in your nose’s skin.
10. Don’t put anything such as ice or cold packs on your nose after surgery.
